ALBERTA UNDERDOG MAKES FINALS IN SAN ANTONIO
February 20, 2009
Justin Berg entered the San Antonio Stock Show and Rodeo on a whim, even though he didn’t meet the qualifications to get in. So when the Marwayne, Alta. native was turned down, he didn’t take the rejection to heart, just kept on riding. But, when the 22-year-old got the call that he was in, he was taken aback.
“I was surprised,” Berg said, “but I wasn't about to turn them down."
It’s a good thing he didn’t, because the saddle bronc rider has secured himself a ride in tomorrow night’s finals at the $1 million rodeo in San Antonio.
Berg coasted through yesterday’s saddle bronc semi-finals in the top four with an 83, bringing his total winnings in San Antonio so far to $3,802.
Berg will compete for the championship Feb. 21, and rodeo fans across Canada – and the world – will be able to cheer him on as the finals will be broadcast live on ProRodeoLive.com.
ProRodeoLive.com's live broadcasts will begin 15 minutes prior to the
performance, which kicks off at 6:30 MST. |
